**PROLOUGE** Let me warn you that this is not your average t-wood action film. That being said, Panjaa is a must watch action entertainer. I don't understand how come it flopped at the box office.
I wanted to discuss with others how great this movie was. I personally felt moved by the film and by the time it ended, I was left speechless. By the time the climax nears, the tension gets higher. The director has given the film an international feel, but kept it Indian at heart.
In the second half, the story gets a more desi feel. The first half slowly sets up the conflict and thus while it's not fast paced, it will keep you glued. Great! Panjaa is emotionally resonant and the story has got to do a lot with that. Again, the director has made sure the songs are there but in a limited duration. Paparayudu track is quite funny and PK's steps are a treat to watch. Music by Yuvan is very good, especially the title track, Ela Ela and Kshanam Kshanam. It gives the film an unprecedented feel and works big time. One more thing that definitely needs appreciation is the camerawork in several action scenes. His performance in some sequences will move you. One of the best things the director has done is that he has not kept Ali just for comedy. Atul Kulkarni and Jackie Shroff have delivered similarly terrific performances, while it's Adivi Sesh who turns out to be the scene stealer. Sarah Jane-Dias and Anjali Lavania are effective in their parts. His character is at par with similar action heroes like John Wick and Robert McCall (who came after him!) and has got a unique fighting style which I've become a huge fan of. He looks dapper as a hitman and delivers a terrific performance, be it the action scenes or the dramatic parts. Pawan Kalyan is the heart and soul of the film. The CGI is quite commendable even though it's a little weak in a few shots, given that Indian movies had started to get advanced around that time. Lots of bullets, knives, crunchy blows, bright explosions dominate the film while also letting other aspects breathe. If you like realistic action involving mostly guns and explosions, this film is an absolute treat. Director Vishnuvardhan has kept the film grounded throughout the duration. Panjaa is a classy action thriller that stands out due to its stylish action sequences, excellent screenplay, catchy music, strong performances and character-driven plot. Thammudu, Badri, Chiranjeevi's Daddy and Khushi's action sequences were choreographed by Pawan Kalyan which were well appreciated by the audiences and added a new dimension to Kalyan's loverboy image. This is one of the best action movies ever made. The trade pundits started comparing his box office performance with that of his elder brother Chiranjeevi. The ego clashes between the protagonists (Kalyan and Bhoomika) were widely appreciated and the film went on to become the biggest hit of his career. Surya exploited Kalyan's loverboy-cum-action hero image. Rathnam signed him for a simultaneous production of his movie (Vijay has acted in the Tamil version) Khushi. After Thammudu, Kalyan teamed up with another debutant director, Puri Jagannadh, for his next film, Badri.ĭuring the shooting of Badri, Producer A. This film was loosely inspired from Aamir Khan's film "Jo Jeeta wohi Sikandar" with the difference being that Pawan Kalyan played the role of a kickboxer. Īfter the movie Tholiprema, Pawan acted in Thammudu (1999).
The movie also received 6 Nandi Awards and Winner of National Award for the Best Feature Film(Telugu). Tholi Prema is the first recognition in Pawan Kalyan's career. Karunakaran made up for an super hit run for the movie. It initially had average talks but the treatment and the storyline along with melodious and balanced music by Deva and fresh treatment from debutant director, A. After his first movie, his second movie was Gokulamlo Sita followed by Suswagatham. This film was notable for his martial arts action sequences. Pawan Kalyan entered the Telugu movie industry with Akkada Abbai Ikkada Ammayi as Kalyan Babu.
